The OPINNO platform aims to introduce the Biotech industry in the Life Sciences university/college education. This platform, coordinated by flanders.bio, uniquely unites all five universities in Flanders (UGent, UAntwerp, KU Leuven, Vrije Universiteit Brussel and UHasselt).

Aims & Mission

Firstly our aim is to show students what it takes to work in a life sciences company; we want to trigger off some business awareness. In addition to that, we want to show students the diversity of job opportunities in our sector.

This is achieved by the organisation of OPINNO Modules & BioBizz cafés as well as by facilitating internships at life sciences companies.

  • OPINNO modules: guest lectures at the university

We invite speakers from the sector to inspire and inform students about life sciences business and entrepreneurship. Questions as What does it take to establish and run a company, and to work in a company are addressed. Topics as portfolio management and innovation strategy are also discussed.

  • BioBizz cafés: informal get-together with company representatives

We organize "speeddating" to bring students in close contact with life sciences entrepreneurs and managers.  We organize three cafés per year: in Antwerp, Ghent and Leuven.

  • Internships in life sciences companies

We offer internships (long and short) in a life sciences company. A unique opportunity for students to get to know the insights of a company and take their first steps in the industry. Available internships are centralised at our website: https://www.flanders.bio/en/internships
