The global reach of the life science sector presents several challenges for managing reward. With the increasing competition for talent across Europe and the US, organisations are facing challenges in designing and managing regional/global reward plans. Reward professionals and remuneration committees have to find the right balance between local and international reward practices as well as address sector-specific issues to remain competitive.
Furthermore, at the senior executive level, remuneration practices will be under increased scrutiny due to the European Shareholder Rights Directive, expected to be formally approved by the European Parliament and Council in March 2017. This means that remuneration policies will require shareholder approval every four years and companies will need to adopt more detailed disclosures.
