flanders.bio is a dynamic, member driven organisation with currently more than 340 members from Belgium and abroad.
We help our members to create value by organising networking and training activities, supporting internationalisation, providing services and building expertise. flanders.bio and its members want to be the proud advocates of a reputable global-impact ecosystem in life sciences.

Our vision

flanders.bio wants to be a valued point of contact for its members and a driving force and facilitator behind the ambition to become amongst the top five life sciences clusters in Europe and top 10 in the world.

Our mission

Our mission is to create value for our members through an appropriate focus in our actions and to act as a respected source of information for key stakeholders/media and a voice to the local governments.

flanders.bio is an organisation that represents the Flemish innovative life sciences sector. Whenever needed and relevant, flanders.bio represents the Belgian innovative life sciences sector in close collaboration with its partners such as BioWin and Bio.be.

Our strategy

In order to be able to deliver our vision and be successful, we will focus our actions around five strategic objectives:

  1. DISCOVER: Strengthening the discovery-innovation continuum by improving the translation from academic research to innovative products and foster top science along the value chain in health, agro & foodtech and industrial sectors

  2. CONNECT: Facilitate cross-technology, cross-sector collaborations and stimulate the development of integrated life sciences solutions, sourcing from expertise in biotech, medtech, digital sciences and other relevant domains, with the aim to collect longitudinal data and develop targeted and personalised solutions in health, agriculture and industrial sectors

  3. TEST: Remain an attractive environment to perform early pilot trials or test products in view of obtaining marketing authorisation

  4. FUND: Ensure appropriate focus in funding strategies of the local government, support initiatives connecting biotech entrepreneurs and investors and provide entrepreneurs with information on dilutive & non-dilutive funding options

  5. EDUCATE: Attract talent to our LS companies, identify the talent gaps in the Belgian and Flemish life sciences market and actively pursue a strategy towards universities & university colleges to develop structural solutions to close these gaps

This should all lead to BUILDING a fertile environment for new ventures to arise, and for young companies to grow and mature into sustainable, midsized companies (> 250 people).
