Lab technician
The Laboratory of Growth Control and Cancer Research, headed by Prof. Georg Halder, is a part of the VIB- Center for Cancer Biology (CCB). Our lab studies the role of the Hippo pathway and its effectors YAP/TAZ in liver cancer. We use a variety of techniques such as hydrodynamic tail vain injection, immunofluorescence (IF) and immune histochemistry (IHC), confocal microscopy, PCR, cloning, etc. We are looking for a lab technician to join the team and provide hands-on support in tasks related to mouse colony maintenance, mouse experiments as well as general lab duties.
Profile
Qualifications:
- A (professional) bachelor’s degree or master’s in biomedical science, immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, biomedicine or related disciplines.
- Both experienced and junior candidates will be considered.
- Experience with general molecular biology techniques
- Ability to work independently in relation to lab organization is required
- Good communication, organizational and writing skills.
- Motivated and independent, being able to interact effectively with other members of the team.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Since you will be involved in experiments with laboratory animals, you will need at least a FELASA B certificate
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office
Responsibilities are including but not limited to:
- Mouse colony maintenance and assisting with mouse experiments
- Daily organization of the lab
- Data documentation in electronic format (elab, Lais)
- General molecular biology tasks: PCR, cloning, Western blot, IF and IHC staining, etc.
- Maintenance of general lab supplies and ordering of consumables
