Scientist Compound Management - part time 50%
As a Scientist in Compound Management, you will be responsible for the meticulous daily management of our compound library. You will play a supportive role in our research activities and contribute to the smooth and safe operation of the Medicinal Chemistry laboratory. This is a part-time, on-site position.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Compound Management
- Manage and maintain the compound library and chemical inventory.
- Receive, organize, and safely store chemical compounds.
- Accurately weigh, label, and sort compounds.
- Support for scientists in their experiments through a service-oriented approach:
- Prepare and ship compounds to internal research teams or external partners.
- Ensure correct labeling, traceability, and registration in databases.
- Ensure traceable storage of reagents.
- Lab operations & stock management
- Assist with general maintenance tasks in the laboratory.
- Support the receipt and storage of purchased materials.
- Administrative follow-up and reporting of all compound-related activities.
Profile Requirements
- Accurate, organized, and service-oriented.
- Knowledge of chemical substances and safety guidelines is a plus.
- Willing to work part-time, half days on-site in Leuven on a daily basis.
- Ideal background: professional bachelor’s degree or secondary education diploma in a relevant scientific field such as laboratory technology, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related discipline (e.g., lab technician, bachelor in chemistry, biotechnology, or similar).
- Experience in compound management, laboratory support, or laboratory inventory management is a plus.
- Good command of English; Dutch/French is an additional asset.
