Software product engineer

The life sciences research field is rapidly becoming more data-driven, and we offer state-of-the-art bioinformatics, data science, software engineering and machine learning solutions to help solve our customers’ biological questions. We're excited to expand our team developing Bio|Verse, our innovative framework that empowers our customers to transform biomedical data into actionable insights.

Bio|Verse is a flexible SaaS framework providing all the ingredients to rapidly deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality bioinformatics and data science web applications. It serves as a delivery vehicle for interactive exploration of results, a means to productize our core services, and a foundation to develop bespoke applications for our customers.

We're seeking a talented software product engineer to join our Bio|Verse product engineering team.

Job requirements 

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript
• Experience with web application frontend development (preferably using React)
• Experience with RESTful API design and implementation
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with modern devops technologies
• Experience with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and client needs
• Affinity with advanced data visualisation and bioinformatics is considered a plus

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain both frontend and backend components of the Bio|Verse framework
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate bioinformatics workflows, data management systems, and visualisation features into the framework
• Implement and optimise features for data findability, visual analytics, and overall user experience
• Contribute to the framework’s plugin architecture and ensure scalability across cloud deployments
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from conceptualization and roadmap planning to deployment and maintenance
• Occasionally engage with customers for demos, requirements collection and results delivery
• Occasionally, support the service of our software.
