First in Belgium: Gevers and CAPE IP Law become a full-service partner in intellectual property

Intellectual property (IP) specialist Gevers and IP law firm CAPE IP Law are joining forces to consolidate their expertise in intellectual property. By becoming a single partner for their clients, under the name Gevers, they now offer them a full-service solution for intellectual property matters – from registration to courtroom. For the first time in Belgium, trademark attorneys, patent attorneys and lawyers are working together this closely.
The foundations of this collaboration were laid several years ago. Véronique Pede, founding partner at CAPE IP Law, explains: “I have long believed in the strength of an intensive collaboration between trademark attorneys, patent attorneys and lawyers—something that rarely happens today. It is with this belief that we are now partnering with Gevers, a well-established player in the niche IP sector across Europe. We aim to empower that position even further with our legal expertise as IP lawyers.”
Bram Dejan, Managing Partner at Gevers, adds: “The idea of a firm where lawyers, trademark attorneys and patent attorneys work closely together has been on my mind for some time as well. Before joining Gevers, I worked as a lawyer myself and often noticed that not all relevant information was available when working on a case. Over the past few years, we successfully collaborated with CAPE IP Law on several occasions, and it became clear that this idea resonated on both sides. This feels like the logical next step, one that benefits us all.”
“And not just us, but primarily our clients. They now have access to all IP-related services under one roof — something unique in Belgium.” Véronique Pede continues: “Clients can expect seamless cooperation between us. They benefit from a single point of contact, where legal and technical IP expertise come together flawlessly. This saves them time and ensures that no critical information is lost.”
Strong player on a national and international level
“This new way of working benefits us on all fronts. Our office in Ghent will remain operational, with colleagues collaborating intensively across all locations – just as they already do at the other Gevers offices.”
Bram Dejan adds: “This collaboration strengthens us for the future, allowing us to respond effectively to the new European patent courts, the Unitary Patent Court or UPC. Both Gevers and CAPE IP Law have long been internationally active and will now also work more efficiently together on a European scale. This allows us to better support international clients seeking a partner in Europe.”
Véronique Pede: “In other major IP countries, such as Germany and France, similar collaborations already exist. The fact that this is not yet the case in Belgium shows that more work is needed to ensure the professional protection of IP. We are delighted to be the first to make this happen in Belgium. This drive for innovation – alongside our focus on intellectual property – is what unites us.”
Bram Dejan: “In summary, this step fits perfectly into the story we are building at Gevers. Our strategy is to create added value with every new service we roll out—benefiting our clients, our people and our company. This new chapter checks all the boxes and further strengthens our mission of empowering innovation.”
